Nina's Story Telling Cave
Nina Naesheim lives in her hometown, Stavanger, in Norway and has been a professional story teller for many years..
She grew up listening to her mother’s stories and retelling them to her doll, her chair, and the door. "They were wonderful listeners. They never interupted.”
She worked in a kindergarden for many years where she enjoyed telling stories and encouraging the children to tell their own tales. In 1998, she studied at the Emerson College Story Telling School, followed by two years at the Artemis School of Speech and Drama in England. Since then she’s told stories for children and grown ups as well as animals and trees. She likes to spice her tales with a dash of music and song as well as loads of humour and fun.
Nina says she likes to tell stories that ”make my heart leap a little”: stories of magic, love, humour, fairytales, folk tales, myths, legends, and lies as well as true stories.
Stories from Norway are often about nature and myths: the big mountain trolls, and the huldra. These are lively, strong stories. Her favorite Northland stories are about the sea; mermaids and silkies. She has taken part in many international storytelling festivals: the Oslo Storytellinng Festival, the Lejre Storytelling Festival (DK), the Edinburgh Bookfestival, the Edinburgh International Storytelling Festival, Whuppity Scoorie in Lanark, Scotland, and the Aberdeen Storrytelling Festival.
